  1. Andre H: Up to your usual tricks with a selfie! Cartier Bresson would have been proud of this. The joy of a grab shot.

Chris S: Delicate and immensely pleasurable. A common flower colour but in a very nice form.

Elaine J: A subject that a Lumix is very good at getting right with its autofocus. A good selection. I am really ignorant. Could these be eaten for breakfast or was this the time of day you came across them.

    Julian P: Mine

Keith W: What have you been up to? Strangely androgynous and the feet point the wrong way for the torso. Were they special shoes, or is this a play on the title re-visions? Give us more!!

Malcolm R: An unremarkable image, but certainly worth recording.

Michael J: Love the mystery and the spiritual feel of the sheep. I hope you get thanks for your work, but an image like this may be reward enough!!

Phil C: Very clever. Surely not an entirely unposed grab shot. This was worth doing, and you have done it well.

Richard B: What great post-processing technique - I guess. Bridge Street it is. Very well conceived and executed.

Tom L: You have again shown how to multiple expose and get a totally clear representation not underlain/overlain with distractions. For information, could you suggest how long you spent creating the final image. I guess it was a “labour of love”. I am totally convinced by the outcome.

    1. It was indeed a grab shot, just one of those lucky moments.

    2. Thanks for your comment. After the taking it probably took 30-45 minutes in Lightroom and then Photoshop and back to Lightroom.

  2. 1) Andre H. An unusual image, full of interest. The shop window “props” add to it. I find your own reflection together with that of a fellow onlooker a little distracting, Andre.

    2) Chris S. Nicely focussed and exposed against a suitably subdued background. The hoverfly adds interest.

    3) Elaine J. This is a lovely image full of subtle colour - an eye into a different world. It suggests shade, shelter and a damp “micro" environment. A bit of judicious “gardening” might have removed those distracting, damaged mushrooms from the scene.

    4) Julian P. Man and dog emerging from the mist on a quiet woodland trail. The scene is balanced; the leading line, and your timing, work well.

    5) Keith W. A lucky gallery visitor, seemingly alone, captured in quiet thought. Not too long now until we can once again start to enjoy the opportunity of visiting places old and new, including galleries and museums.

    6) Malcolm R. An unusual capture of an otherwise ordinary urban structure. Your use of geometry, colour and light has transformed it in something more; more than the sum of its parts. I like it a lot, although it would be improved by the removal of the bright highlight on the left of the frame (to my eye).

    7) Michael J. A pastoral scene enveloped by mist. The skeletal tree, typical of winter, takes centre stage while the goats are a supporting cast, adding contrast and interest. I think there is a case for slightly lifting the contrast overall.

    8) Phil C. Many hands indeed! No doubt this was a chance encounter. The moment would have passed in an instant, yet your lightning reaction, camera in hand, has enabled you to record it.

    9) Richard B. My photo.

    10) Tom L. Another fun photo, so carefully planned and implemented. It is vibrant with interesting light - the sky looks menacing. Of course, there are many clues that all is not what it seems!!

Love this, she looks very relaxed considering she is on show to all.

    Chris S
I like this version, the flowers stand out really well against the out of focus background.

    Elaine J
Beautiful light, looks like an enchanted spot.

    Julian P
The figures are nicely placed in as they leave the frame, though you have a long way o go to catch up with them.

    Keith W
I wonder if the words are more interesting than the photos? Hard to tell from here. Nicely framed.

    Malcolm R
The colour supports add a splash of colour to the scene and the geometric shapes of the bridge and the triangle of light add real interest.

    Michael J
Sounds like a wonderful reason for a long walk, the misty morning is well captured here.

Very powerful black and white, so much detail in the reflection.

    Tom L
Looks like the vehicle is well cared for, though the chap on the front could do some damage!

  4. 1. Andre H. A fun if complex image with the multiple layers of internal detail and external reflections, a broad grin at one side and a selfie at the other. Perhaps a slightly warmer tone ?

    2. Chris S. The well out of focus background colours complement the flowers and really brings them to the fore, capturing the fly is an added bonus.

    3. Elaine J. A nicely lit crop of fungi impossible to frame without cutting bits off one or two specimens . They resemble a pile of buns - with a bite taken out of one of them.

    4. Julian P. The walker and his dog make all the difference here perfectly positioned as they are at the top of the rise in the path.

    5. Keith W. The girl is anonymous and the exhibits indistinct but as a typical “Life in the Gallery” type shot it works beautifully and is well suited to monochrome.

    6. Me.

    7. Michael J. Very atmospheric, the touch of colour in the grass relieving the gloom of the mist.

    8. Phil C. Another shop window shot, the moment brilliantly seen and captured.

    9. Richard B. A striking image well suited to monochrome. The focus is on the reflection of the bridge which is beautifully sharp but the wide aperture used has meant that there is insufficient depth of field to keep the pavement sharp as well and that rather spoils the effect.

    10. Tom L. Cleverly done and great fun, these people get everywhere !!!

Different, and worked ! Nice one from the archive.

    Chris S

The flower and visitor certainly pop from background. Nicely taken.

    Elaine J

    Hope they were yummy.

    Julian P

Great image, made by the person and dog at the perfect spot. Love this lens.

    Malcolm R

Almost abstract. Good reflections up and down. Very well seen and captured.

    Michael J

Captures the mood of the weather well. Must give you lots of opportunities for great images.

    Phil C

Another well spotted grab shot. Good title!

    Richard B

Another clever title. Great focus on the ironwork. Maybe crop out patch on lines at top?

    Tom L

    Very clever - again!

  6. Chris S — Good flower, lovely subdued background and nice touch of wildlife
Elaine J - are they really edible? Soft colours are a nice change from the kind of thing I see in Club photography
Julian P - Good colour and perspective
Keith W - Looks easy, but this is hard to get right : exhibition title very apt
Malcolm R - I like the triangles just as much as the pattern of reflections
Michael J - I’m a sucker for this misty light even if the sheep are less distinctive
Phil C - Was it really a grabshot? - I think it both clever and intriguing
Richard B - Such a sharp reflection within the less sharp street scene - very nice!
Tom L - Only 12 seconds? Impressive . . .and very well done
